Antique Heavily Carved Mahogany Revolving Ships Chair
Superb quality antique heavily carved mahogany revolving ships chair with cast iron base and drop in buttoned leather seat. (Circa 1903). This chair was from the 2nd class smoking room of the White Star Liner SS Arabic (see illustration). Built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast she entered service in 1903 and was sunk in 1915 by a German submarine 50 miles south of Kinsale on the southern Irish coast with the loss of 44 lives.
